Database Systems Manager

This is a hybrid opportunity that requires the Database Administrator to reside in the Rochester, New York area. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, oversight, and maintenance of ConServe's multiple database environments.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and monitor database health and performance indicators to ensure optimal system reliability and sustainability.
- Design, implement, and manage database backup and recovery processes to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Evaluate and implement security practices and processes to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Install, maintain, and upgrade databases in development, testing, training, and production environments to ensure compatibility and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement sound technical resolutions in a timely manner.
- Conduct tests and modify code and/or configuration to confirm software solutions meet business requirements.
- Develop and maintain functional and technical specifications to ensure accurate documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Adhere to software development lifecycle guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in database development and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with peers and management to inform them of potential changes that may impact daily operations, staffing needs, schedules, or work deliverables.
- Protect operations by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.
- Provide off-hours support to ensure maximum system availability to the user base.
- Minimum five (5) years of database administration experience.
- Significant experience in Microsoft SQL Server environments, with experience in PostgreSQL desired.
- Expertise in database backup, indexing, and performance optimization.
- Strong knowledge of database and information security principles and controls.
- Working knowledge of application development and/or programming languages.
- Experience with reporting environments, including SSRS, preferred.
- This is a hybrid opportunity, and the successful candidate must reside in the Rochester, NY area.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical problems to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and multitask with limited supervision, contributing as a team player.
- Experience handling multiple changing priorities and meeting deadlines in a professional manner.
- Ability to perform and multitask under pressure, with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
- U.S. Citizenship or lawful Permanent Resident alien with three or more years as a permanent resident in the United States.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Government Security Clearance.

- The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to sit or remain sedentary for your entire work shift (8, 9, or 10 hour shift).
- Must occasionally be able to bend, move, climb, and lie down in awkward positions.
- Ability to type on a computer for your entire work shift (8, 9, or 10 hour shift).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use and reach with hands, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, talk, see, and hear.
- Ability to listen and talk frequently throughout the day.
