The Catalyst Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in the synthesis, analysis, production, and qualification processes within the Catalyst Supply Chain. This includes working with raw materials such as aluminas and zeolites, product intermediates, and finished catalysts. The technician is responsible for preparing size-specific catalyst charges for performance evaluations and for the preparation of catalysts for use in refinery reactors globally. Collaborating closely with the Catalyst Lab team and relevant stakeholders, the technician's work supports the overall Catalyst Supply Business, including R&D, scale-up, commercialization, and technical support for refineries utilizing the company's technology. The role emphasizes adherence to lab safety and compliance protocols to maintain a robust safety culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare laboratory-sized catalysts using specialized equipment for mixing, extruding, drying, and calcining.
- Produce small catalyst samples for analytical evaluations and performance testing.
- Formulate complex metal solutions.
- Conduct metal separation and purification processes through solvent extraction.
- Perform physical assessments on both laboratory and commercial catalysts.
- Utilize general wet chemistry techniques.
- Manage chemical inventory and maintain catalyst storage records.
- Document findings in written reports.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment, complying with all safety and environmental regulations.
- At least one year of laboratory experience.
- Familiarity with wet chemistry techniques and analytical methods.
- Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining lab-scale industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Timely delivery of data and results.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across departments.
- Understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard management.
- Commitment to safety culture.
- Strong work ethic and teamwork capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing project demands.
- Capability to lift 40-50 lbs comfortably.
- Experience in metal separation and purification from complex solutions.

- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Natural Sciences, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
