Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in the clinical laboratories, providing support services by resolving problem specimens/orders and responding to telephone inquiries for test results and specimen collection criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare specimens for analysis by accessioning orders via LIS (CIS) and verifying specimen acceptability.
  • Perform established pre-analytical procedures in accordance with laboratory policy in an accurate, safe, and timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and timely testing and report results to requesting physicians and other healthcare professionals for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times.
  • Display a positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort.
Requirements
  • Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other equivalent accrediting agencies.
  • New graduates of an accredited program must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Individuals with required Credential Maintenance: technical positions that require certification maintenance, team members must obtain the number CE hours as required by The Board of Certification Credential Maintenance Program (CMP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Associate Degree in Clinical/Medical Lab Sciences.
Working Conditions

The Medical Laboratory Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The position requires the ability to handle multiple priorities, adapt to frequent changes, and work in a noisy environment.
