Job Overview

A highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician is sought to join the Department of Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic pre-clinical translational research laboratory, contributing to the development of new treatments and therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare general laboratory reagents, including buffer preparation
  • Maintain laboratory stock and order supplies as needed
  • Perform general laboratory maintenance, including glass washing and tidying
  • Manage breeding colonies of genetically engineered mice, maintaining accurate records
  • Collect and process tissue samples for genotyping, requiring animal handling skills

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • General laboratory skills, including buffer preparation
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data entry using Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
