About the Role

Banner Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Scheduler to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate case times for elective, urgent, or emergent surgeries, cardiovascular, or obstetrical procedures in a computerized scheduling system.
  • Verify and review physician privilege status prior to scheduling, maintaining confidentiality of all information.
  • Acquire and maintain physician preference information and staff roster.
  • Enter physician orders for lab, blood bank, medical imaging, and cardiology, as well as results of diagnostic tests, patient registration information, and patient charges.
  • Compile data and prepare statistical reports for management.
  • Act as a receptionist to assigned unit, answering phones, relaying messages, greeting and directing patients, visitors, physicians, and families, and answering questions about policies and procedures.
  • Enter facility work orders and supply orders when required by assigned department.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 2 years of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, payor contract terms, and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective human relations and communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards.
