Starting Salary:
Transportation Project Coordinator I: $40.53 hourly, based on qualifications
Transportation Project Coordinator II: $48.15 hourly, based on qualifications

Position Overview:

The role involves administrative and professional responsibilities focused on the quality assurance of transportation initiatives. This position is accountable for planning, leading, and coordinating efforts to ensure that projects are completed within the designated timelines and budgetary constraints. The individual will assist in the development and oversight of the Division's budget and specific project budgets. This role is a key facilitator of external funding collaborations, including grant programs with relevant state transportation authorities. Work is conducted under the general supervision of the Division Manager, with performance evaluations occurring periodically through both formal and informal assessments.

Essential Qualifications:

Transportation Project Coordinator I: A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, along with four (4) years of experience in the design and management of transportation projects is mandatory; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A Master's Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering is preferred. A valid Florida Driver's License is mandatory.

Transportation Project Coordinator II: The same qualifications as the Coordinator I, but also requires registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida, along with a valid Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certification from the Institute of Transportation Engineering.

Promotion Criteria:

Promotions are not guaranteed based on tenure alone and are subject to the review and approval of the Supervisor. The employee's most recent performance evaluation must reflect an overall rating of Meets Standards or higher, with no individual rating below Meets Standards.

If a degree is indicated as a requirement, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree:
  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
