Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at North Shore Medical Center. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients, visitors, and escorting patients as necessary, while maintaining excellent customer service skills.
  • Verifying patient identification and accurately assigning/identifying medical records.
  • Collecting and verifying patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and financial responsibility, and entering this information into our hospital computer system in a timely manner.
  • Interviewing patients at bedside as needed to facilitate timely and effective solutions.
  • Educating patients on financial responsibilities and identifying self-pay patients and potential solutions.
  • Responsible for consistent knowledge and accurate use and execution of hospital policies and department SOPs, supporting tools, software, and websites.
  • Ensuring all hospital and regulatory requirements are met, including consents/signatures, distribution of patient rights, health care proxies, HIPAA, ABNs, etc.
  • Meeting performance standards established by Patient Access and Hospital leadership, including registration quality, collections, confidentiality, and customer service.
  • Working effectively with fellow co-workers within Patient Access and all other hospital departments.
  • Demonstrating respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Committing to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers with respect to differences in cultures, values, beliefs, and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

Education and Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • One to two years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excel, Microsoft, competence in navigating computer/software applications and ability to type quickly and accurately.
