As we expand, we are looking for an Environment, Health, and Safety Specialist/Chemical Hygiene Officer. This role is perfect for individuals eager to embrace a dynamic and challenging environment. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety protocols for chemical handling and equipment use.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations, including the timely completion of OSHA and environmental documentation.
- Identify organizational vulnerabilities and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and environmental compliance.
- Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents to determine root causes and formulate prevention strategies; share insights across the organization.
- Oversee the creation and delivery of training programs and emergency drills; support the onboarding process for new employees regarding safety practices.
- Assist in the identification, assessment, and management of occupational hazards using engineering principles.
- Formulate and enforce occupational safety policies and guidelines to align with industry standards and recommend necessary technical adjustments.
- Maintain thorough records related to compliance and training; review audit reports and incident investigations to mitigate hazardous conditions.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and technological upgrades within laboratory settings.
- Monitor and follow up on corrective actions; utilize near misses and incidents to gauge progress towards safety objectives.
- Address and rectify at-risk behaviors and conditions within the workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, biological sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a technical EH&S role within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical safety and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding hazardous materials.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on risk management.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
- Proficient in the use of spreadsheets and database software for project planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Certifications
Certification in CPS, CIH, or CHMM is highly desirable.
