Safety Officer Job Description

This position is responsible for providing and administering a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and DOH regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environment to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors.
  • Conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
  • Develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to provide a safe environment.
  • Investigate Safety or Internal Reviews for the facility.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a risk management or safety-related field.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a field and office setting. Exposure to VDT and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints. Extensive driving, including overnight travel, is required of this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in Spanish.
  • Successful completion of the OSHA 510 or OSHA 511 course.
