Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Director to join our team at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our fundraising efforts, developing and implementing strategic plans to secure funding from corporations, foundations, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, corporate partners, and community leaders
  • Manage a portfolio of donor prospects, including research, cultivation, and solicitation
  • Collaborate with key staff to implement a strategy for educating, cultivating, and stewarding donors
  • Develop and implement a grants management cycle, including research, proposal writing, and reporting
  • Manage a donor database and ensure timely and accurate reporting to external quality control agencies
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and assigned subsidiary board meetings, as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Demonstrated ability to meet financial goals for gift solicitation
  • Knowledge of grants management cycle and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation, and government donors
  • Demonstrated superior writing, research, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results
  • Interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Cleveland philanthropic community and national funding field
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven
  • High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience working in donor database
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of non-profit fundraising experience in donor management, cultivation, and solicitation
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and telephone.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

Light to moderate lifting is required, up to 20 pounds.

Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).

Ability to work in a confined area.

Frequent local and occasional national travel.

Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Work environment is stressful at times.
