Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at Geisinger Medical Center. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of interventional procedures, including technical, procedural, and equipment performance, patient care and education, and interfacing with other clinical departments.

Responsibilities
  • Perform invasive procedure assistance and digital imaging while performing duties such as embolization, tumor embolization, chemotherapy embolization, tumor treatment with radioactive elements, intracranial stenting, intravascular stenting, and limb preservation.
  • Assist the Interventionalist while performing procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
  • Operate and monitor equipment, as required; hand instruments in proper order to physician; assist with suctioning and positioning patients, as required; provide emotional support to patients, as necessary.
  • Prepare and position patients, administer contrast media as directed by physicians, provide immobilization devices and radiation protection to patients and personnel in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Explain procedures and answer appropriate patient questions.
  • Report to the Registered Nurse reactions, results of procedures, and any changes observed in the patient's condition.
  • Document pertinent medical information where indicated.
  • Maintain current knowledge on all interventional supplies.
  • Identify and define all Neuro, Thoracic, Abdominal, and Peripheral Vasculature.
  • Operate digital imaging equipment and enter all pertinent data to IDX, Imaging Suite, and Picture Archiving Communication System Imaging Management Systems.
  • Obtain and reconstruct 3-dimensional images and digital subtraction angiography.
  • Perform quality control tests of equipment and notify leadership and appropriate maintenance personnel of irregularities.
  • Monitor dose reporting of high levels of radiation due to the length and complexity of the procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and sterilized and in working order.
  • Maintain patient scheduling grease board for procedures as well as follow-up documentation.
  • Share responsibility for ordering interventional supplies and maintaining appropriate levels of on-hand supplies.
  • Responsible for all Quality Improvement documentation.
Requirements
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology.
  • Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Excellent communication and diagnostic imaging skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
