Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Tufts Corporate. As a Patient Service Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our revenue cycle processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-registration tasks for inpatients and outpatients, including collecting demographic, financial, and clinical information.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations and referrals.
  • Collect patient payments and post collected payments in the system of record.
  • Provide excellent customer service and deliver exceptional professional courtesy to all patients.
  • Interact with physicians, nursing units, and office staff in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain and hospital financial information confidentially in accordance with all hospital policy and any state or federal regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of medical office, insurance, physician's office practice, or hospital registration experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy required, including familiarity with word processing programs and electronic spreadsheets.
  • Strong customer service skills, including excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, occasional standing or working, and lifting of 10-15 pounds.
  • May be exposed to dust and other typical office-like discomforts.
  • Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulations for computer keyboard operation.
  • Requires ability to see computer screen and read reports.
  • Requires ability to hear instructions from physicians and other clinical or nursing staff.
