UTILITIES REPAIR TECHNICIAN - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

2nd & 3rd Shift - Starting pay $36.36/hour + 6% Shift Premium

Location: Lafayette, Indiana

We are seeking Utilities Repair Technicians for our Large Power Systems Division. In this position, you will be tasked with the mechanical troubleshooting and repair of complex domestic and international machinery and associated equipment that perform assembly, torque, and material handling functions in the assembly areas. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of machinery and components, including mechanical repairs to utilities, test cells, building and grounds maintenance, pump rebuilds, HVAC systems, boiler operations, and assembly maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extensive experience in mechanical and/or electrical repair of machine tools and related equipment is advantageous.
  • Completion of an approved HVAC training program and practical experience in the HVAC field is required.
  • Ability to install, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems, precision bearings, HVAC, and various controllers on machines in the assembly areas.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as boiler operations, pumps, cranes, conveyors, torque tools, and robotic systems is beneficial.
  • Understanding of machine leveling and alignment, shaft alignment, gearing, welding, lubrication principles, pipefitting, and tube bending is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet production demands is necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial utilities and repair.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing large-scale dynamometers is a plus.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including compressors and valves, is required.
  • Proven experience as a boiler operator is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and possess basic electrical troubleshooting skills is necessary.
  • Basic welding and cutting skills, along with the ability to operate standard tools, are required for the utilities controller role.
  • Experience with robotic systems is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated individual who thrives in both independent and team environments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Candidates must be capable of working in a fast-paced, medium to heavy-duty assembly and technical environment.
  • The role may involve frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for extended periods.
  • All positions require the ability to lift 40 pounds and perform repetitive hand movements with various tools.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

  • This position is located in Lafayette, IN.
  • Shift: 2nd Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm) & 3rd Shift (10:30pm-6:30am)

Compensation & Benefits Offered:
  • Starting hourly pay rate of $36.36 plus a 6% shift premium. Higher rates may be offered based on experience.
  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for overtime.
