Licensed Practical Nurse LPN

Medical Recruitment Strategies is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse LPN to join our team. As a Licensed Practical Nurse LPN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting nursing sick call and new patient assessments, and developing nursing goals and appropriate referrals for patients.
- Providing medical and nursing therapies, health care instructions, and counseling to inmates and families.
- Continually monitoring the health status of patients and modifying their nursing care plans as needed.
- Monitoring patients' mental health status and placing referrals to mental health staff as indicated.
- Working collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to develop, prioritize, plan, and implement care delivery within the facilities.
- Administration of medication via multiple routes, documenting medication administration, and maintaining accountability for the safeguard/counts and accountability of medications.
- Performing assessments and dressing changes on wounds involving multiple tissue layers and applying therapies to wounds as ordered by physician.
- Participating in emergency code responses, assessing injuries, and providing first aid and basic life support to inmates and staff.
- Safeguarding institution keys and securing clinical areas, including exam rooms, storage areas, medicine closets, and related areas.
- Advocating for patients' healthcare needs or the needs of the nursing department to optimize nursing care delivery.
- Observing and reporting any unusual activities of inmate patients or other inmates in the facility.
- Documentation of all nursing encounters in the electronic medical record and preparing reports for security as required.
Requirements:
- 1+ years of nursing experience required
- Correctional experience not required
