Position Overview:

TD's Middle Market Sponsor Finance Group is tasked with managing credit relationships with borrowers linked to private equity firms and family offices. The team oversees the underwriting and documentation of new transactions while managing existing portfolio accounts in accordance with TD's credit risk policy and risk appetite. This includes close collaboration with Relationship Management and Credit Risk Management to ensure alignment with TD Bank Group's Risk Appetite Principles, including establishing Borrower Risk Ratings (PD) and Facility Risk Ratings (LGD) for both new and existing credit relationships.

The Credit Analyst III, Middle Market plays a crucial role in performing comprehensive industry and financial analysis of current and prospective Middle Market borrowers. This position collaborates effectively to support the Bank's Lending and Credit functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex Middle Market loans, industries, and customers.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong understanding of loan risk factors.
  • May provide training and mentorship to junior analysts.
  • Conduct research on industry-specific information from various sources, including borrower conversations, industry publications, and credit agencies.
  • Participate in customer meetings and inquire about specific customer information based on prior research and knowledge.
  • Play an integral role in the loan origination process by performing underwriting analysis of borrowers' character, creditworthiness, and financial condition.
  • Support the lending function by providing analytical insights.
  • Prepare timely and insightful approval memorandums for presentation to relevant lending and credit authorities.
  • Thoroughly analyze financial statements, management profiles, business cycles, cash flow capabilities, and collateral to identify trends and assess credit risk.
  • Draft comprehensive written analyses with appropriate recommendations for approval, denial, or alternative structures when necessary.
  • Maintain credit files and monitor updated financial statements, preparing updated analysis memos as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide written analyses that identify deviations from the Company Commercial Loan Policy and familiarize with alternative structures to mitigate credit risk.
  • Achieve operational performance standards in quality and timeliness.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.
  • Strong understanding of loan risk factors.
  • Ability to independently gather, consolidate, analyze, and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations for all levels of commercial credit relationships.
  • Proven ability to identify and quantify subtle business risks and focus discussions on key risk drivers.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills.
  • Exhibit self-confidence in discussions and defend analytical decisions.
  • Develop proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
