Job Overview:
The Credit Portfolio Manager II (CPM) for Middle Market is responsible for conducting financial assessments to inform credit decisions on both new and existing accounts. This role supports the commercial banking team by recommending credit solutions that enhance customer value. The CPM manages a designated portfolio of Middle Market commercial loans, ensuring compliance with loan agreements, regulatory standards, and underwriting policies. The CPM also monitors the overall risk profile of the portfolio, identifying potential macro and micro risk factors early on.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in people management by recruiting top talent, setting objectives, developing team members, managing performance, and overseeing compensation decisions.
- Oversee complex credit operations to ensure quality performance, consistency in underwriting, and timely service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Handle larger, intricate deals, primarily focused on Middle Market and specialized lending.
- Lead the creation and implementation of commercial and credit-related initiatives.
- Act as a consultant to business lines on credit matters, processes, and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for business lines, collaborating with senior management on various issues, managing expectations, and negotiating timelines.
- Work with Lending/Credit Officers to address exceptions noted by auditors or examiners.
- Coordinate with Relationship Managers to conduct routine financial analyses and credit investigations.
- Communicate credit decisions to Relationship Managers as necessary.
- Manage workflow and ensure adherence to departmental policies.
- Participate in organizational cost-benefit analyses and implementation strategies.
- Establish and maintain measurable service level standards aligned with business performance.
- Ensure timely information delivery and process efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality of credit and customer information at all times.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 10+ years of relevant experience required.
- Strong grasp of commercial business development techniques and credit decision-making.
- Proven credit and financial analysis capabilities.
- Familiarity with capital markets is advantageous.
- Exceptional negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in PC skills.
