Elections Systems Integration Security Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Elections Systems Integration Security Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the Voter Registration System Administrator and the broader Elections Division. This position involves collaborating with vendors to establish, enhance, and maintain integrations between Georgia's Voter Registration & Election Planning System, GARViS, and other systems. Additionally, the Elections Systems Integration Security Analyst is tasked with evaluating and managing cybersecurity risks associated with the Elections Systems.

This role will also assist the Voter Registration System Administrator in reviewing system data to ensure accuracy during system enhancements and to address any issues, leading to essential feedback being communicated both internally and with software vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Participate in the assessment and maintenance of current integrations, which includes testing, documentation, and implementation.

· Serve as the primary contact for integration vendors concerning Elections Information Systems.

· Undertake limited project responsibilities and other tasks as assigned to support the Elections Information Systems & Database Manager in the areas of integrations, system data review, and cybersecurity.

· Oversee the continuous improvement of integrations and cybersecurity measures to ensure technological and business relevance.

· Collaborate with other Elections Division team members and senior leaders to align business needs and jointly design solutions to complex project challenges related to integrations and system security.

· Provide application and technical support for Electronic Ballot Delivery (EBD) tools, Ballot Tracking tools, and Electronic Poll Book tools.

o Conduct thorough testing of systems to identify errors or defects within integrations.

o Collaborate with the Voter Registration System Administrator and vendors to resolve defects and issues related to these integrations.

· Compile and document technical details regarding integrations and any subsequent revisions.

· Document cybersecurity responses and improvements implemented.

· Investigate security vulnerabilities within the Elections Information Systems.

· Actively test systems to identify potential cybersecurity risks.

· Assist in documenting ongoing issues with system integrations as reported by state and county end users.

· Continuously learn about the architecture and logic of the Elections Information Systems.

· Review isolated data within the Elections Information System to provide insights on data integrity and accuracy.

· Recommend practices and protocols to mitigate cybersecurity threats.

· Develop security measures to protect Elections Information Systems from attacks and threats.

· Implement procedures to ensure compliance with security standards.

· Utilize strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Understanding of systems and software configuration and their application in a system environment.

· Methodical work habits with the ability to work independently.

· Strong commitment to accuracy and the ability to anticipate issues before they arise.

· Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

· Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with co-workers, internal/external customers, and department management.

· Proficiency in using project management tools to track tasks and responsibilities.

· Ability to convey technical information to a targeted audience.

· In-depth understanding of the agency's change management processes.

· Familiarity with system design and associated business processes.

· Capability to write specifications for system processes.

· A forensic approach to data and security challenges.

· Ability to read and interpret technical documents, as well as operational policies and procedures.

· Strong organizational skills to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision.

· Proficient in Microsoft products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

· Ability to document system modifications in compliance with business standards.

· Discretion when handling sensitive data.

· Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks to achieve objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Strong understanding of technical language. Experience with Elections and Voter Registration Systems is required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in computer science or a related field, or an associate's degree in a technical curriculum with at least 3 years of recent relevant experience in an IT or application support role.

Bachelors Degree *and* One (1) year of work-related experience OR Associates Degree in Business Administrative Technology *and* Two (2) years of related work experience. Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
