Argonne National Laboratory is seeking an Environmental Law Attorney to join our Legal Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advice and representation to management on environmental, safety, and health matters.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal counsel on environmental, safety, and health issues, including policy formulation and implementation.
- Support Laboratory efforts in regulatory compliance, including federal and state requirements.
- Assignments may include litigation, dispute resolution, and contract management.
- Direct and manage outside counsel providing legal services to the Laboratory.
- Maintain a body of knowledge regarding current legislation, statutes, and Department of Energy orders.
- Admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois or eligible for a limited practice license.
- Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school with at least six (6) years of experience in environmental, safety, and health legal issues.
- Experience with federal regulatory compliance and guiding policy development with senior management.
- Ability to model Argonne's Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.
- Experience providing legal counsel on federal and state privacy issues.
- Working with a national laboratory or federal government contractor or agency on federally funded research and development.
