Job Summary

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Health Physicist to join their team in the Environmental, Safety and Health division. As a key member of the Radiological Protection Program, you will be responsible for providing field and laboratory support to ensure the safety of onsite personnel, the surrounding public, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and supervise radiation protection activities to prevent or minimize adverse effects of ionizing radiation.
  • Provide technical expertise in health physics and radiation protection theory and practice, including measurement and analysis of ionizing radiation and radioactivity.
  • Develop and conduct research and development projects in applied health physics to improve the radiological protection program.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Health Physics, Engineering, or Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in health physics, radiation protection, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of health physics and radiation protection theory and practice, including measurement and analysis of ionizing radiation and radioactivity.
  • Experience with shielding design techniques, dose assessment methodologies, and experimental techniques.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate problems and solutions to works and management.
  • Ability to make judgments and decisions in emergency situations and to maintain interpersonal relations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MARSSIM and experience in supporting D&D projects as a health physicist.
  • CHP certification.
