Job Overview

The Nursing Assistant II plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care within the healthcare setting. This position involves performing designated diagnostic tests and executing prescribed treatments while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and meal preparation.
  • Support the healthcare team in conducting physical and psychological assessments of patients.
  • Measure and document vital signs such as Temperature, Pulse, Respiration (TPR), blood pressure, height, weight, and other relevant metrics.
  • Collect necessary specimens, including urine and sputum, for diagnostic purposes.
  • Report any significant changes in patient conditions or concerns to the registered nurse promptly.
Diagnostic and Treatment Support

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Nursing Assistant II will:

  • Apply basic dressings and assist with intravenous therapy discontinuation.
  • Perform EKG electrode applications and obtain blood sugar readings.
  • Assist in the insertion of Foley catheters and the management of pressure injuries.
  • Support patients with elimination needs and apply traction as required.
Safety and Emergency Response

This role includes a commitment to patient safety by:

  • Responding to patient call bells and emergency signals.
  • Identifying and addressing unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Transporting patients as needed and participating in emergency drills.
Team Collaboration

The Nursing Assistant II is expected to:

  • Accept assignments and seek clarification when necessary.
  • Report observations and findings to the registered nurse regularly.
  • Engage as an integral member of the nursing team, taking on additional responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and training.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course.
  • Heart Saver Certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of direct patient care experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
