The City of O'Fallon, MO is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Services Coordinator to enhance our community engagement initiatives. Our program successfully integrates approximately 2,000 volunteers each year into various city-sponsored events, environmental projects, recreational activities, and leadership programs. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage volunteer recruitment, placement, supervision, and recognition, while collaborating with city staff, residents, elected officials, and community partners.

The Volunteer Services Coordinator will earn a competitive salary ranging from $48,984 to $73,465, with starting salaries based on relevant experience in Volunteer Administration or related fields. Our comprehensive benefits package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, life insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, personal time off, HSA/FSA options, pension plans, and tuition assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for promoting volunteer engagement.
  • Organize and manage city-sponsored events.
  • Work with city departments to assess volunteer needs and create corresponding opportunities.
  • Recruit, interview, screen, orient, and train volunteers.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies, schools, non-profits, and businesses.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation through a database.
  • Plan and execute volunteer recognition events.
  • Identify challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Demonstrate initiative in enhancing personal skills and knowledge.
  • Work in various settings, including office environments and community locations.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in volunteer administration and human resources.
  • Strong understanding of community demographics and 3-5 years of experience in event planning.
  • Proven ability to organize and lead volunteer efforts.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Certification as a Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) is advantageous.
