Job Title: Asphalt Paving Laborer

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a skilled Asphalt Paving Laborer to join our team. As a key member of our asphalt paving department, you will be responsible for assisting in the placement of hot mix asphalt, shoveling asphaltic materials, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the placement of hot mix asphalt using shovels, lutes, or other related tools.
  • Shovel asphaltic materials and assist with maintenance of asphalt finishing machines.
  • Follow instructions from Field Managers and/or Asphalt Foremen.
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including extreme heat, dust, and loud noises.
  • Keep company vehicles, property, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Report any safety concerns or problems to management.
  • Be exposed to live traffic.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Education:
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must meet company employment standards regarding background checks.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Fast reflexes, good depth perception, and ability to set controls quickly and precisely.
  • Flexible availability, including overtime, weekends, and on-call time.
  • Ability to tolerate varying weather conditions, including rain and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to live traffic, dust, dirt, and loud noises.
  • Must meet SBCC's standards regarding safety training.
Preferred Skills:
  • Valid Driver's License and 3-year motor vehicle record meeting company vehicle operation policy standards.
  • May be required to obtain DOT medical certification.
  • 1 year experience working with high production asphalt laying crews requiring rotating shifts.
  • Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
