Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Construction Technician to join our team at Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform materials testing and inspections to ensure compliance with WVDOH specifications and industry standards.
  • Document the proper use of materials, including soil, concrete, reinforcing steel, asphalt, and aggregate, on construction projects.
  • Conduct testing and inspections on various projects, including resurfacing, slide repairs, bridge and roadway construction, and more.
  • Prepare daily reports on work accomplished by contractors and maintain testing logs.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including owners, contractors, and field staff.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or State Equivalency Certificate required.
  • WVDOH Materials Certification in Asphalt Field - Compaction, and/or Soil - Aggregate Compaction and Portland Cement Concrete certification required.
  • Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Proven work ethic and willingness to learn and complete training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in a field related to engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or other related advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified as, or possess the qualifications to certify as, a WVTRET Level (I – V) preferred.
  • West Virginia Division of Highway (WVDOH) experience preferred.
