Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Scale Operator to join our team at Sanders Brothers Construction in North Charleston, SC. As a Scale Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate weight measurements of materials ordered and received at our recycling facility. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate truck and heavy equipment scales to ensure weight accuracies of materials ordered and received.
  • Complete financial transactions using a credit card machine.
  • May operate a loader to supply materials to customers.
  • Receive demolition materials from various sources and inspect them for accuracy prior to receipt.
  • Maintain control over company property and direct customers and hauling vehicles.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including dusty, wet, and loud conditions.
  • Keep company vehicles, property, and equipment clean and orderly, reporting any safety concerns or issues to management.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other general duties as specified.
  • Follow all DHEC requirements for crushing operations.
  • Assist in plant preventative maintenance plans.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience operating truck/equipment scales.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of proper scale operation and equipment capabilities.
  • Ability to recognize various products by sight and understand proper plant procedures for movement, receipt, sale, and loading of materials.
  • Lift plant components up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, or sit for long periods.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and finding percentages.
  • Ability to interact with customers, including financial transactions.
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must meet company employment standards regarding background checks.
  • Flexible availability, including overtime and possible weekends.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and environments.

Sanders Brothers Construction Company, Inc. is a fully bonded, licensed, and insured general contractor of heavy highway, street, and road construction located in North Charleston, South Carolina. Our area of work includes residential and commercial developments, as well as heavy highway and DOT construction. We have the capability of performing a turn-key site work package in-house, including cost estimation, project management, surveying, grading, asphalt paving, concrete curb and gutter, and flatwork. We also have three asphalt production plants, an active concrete and asphalt recycling division, and a soil stabilization division.
