Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Public Health Investigator to join our team at CAI. The successful candidate will have a master's degree in Public Health or a related field and experience in bereavement support. The role involves conducting research on bereavement support and improving systems to better support the mental health of families who have experienced a loss.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on bereavement support and develop a bereavement toolkit for the State of Indiana.
  • Work with the Indiana FIMR network to create a data collection bereavement report for a more robust FIMR case review.
  • Collaborate with the Fetal-Infant Mortality Programs Director, Maternal Mortality Programs Director, and Suicide & Overdose Programs Director to assess if deaths may be related to a lack of bereavement support.
  • Present findings to internal and external stakeholders to promote better access to bereavement services statewide.
  • Work in cooperation with other Division programs to create materials and documents for bereavement support prevention and outreach.
  • Promote activities and findings to other state agency divisions, including MCH, DMHA, Medicaid, and DCS.
  • Establish and foster relationships between other Divisions and state agencies to create a network of health promotion experts and community resources.
  • Compose abstracts and proposals for program presentation at local, state, and national events.
  • Present bereavement programming at local, state, and national events.
  • Work with the FRP team, local FIMR teams, community agencies, and hospital systems statewide to advance bereavement support, follow-up care, and maternal mental health needs after a loss.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Public Health or a related field, such as health promotion, health communication, health education, social work, or public health.
  • Two years of related experience, or lived experience may substitute for professional experience.
  • Previous work or research in bereavement support.
  • Highly motivated and able to take initiative, creative thinking.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to work under pressure/tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate extremely well verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands

The position requires sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc. Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
