Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Inspector Manager to join our team at the Boston Public Health Commission. As a key member of our Environmental Follow-up Component, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of lead case management activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Health Inspectors in the conduct of lead case management activities
  • Ensure that sources of lead exposure are investigated and abated within appropriate time frames
  • Provide data and information to support the Director in the writing of reports and grant applications
  • Coordinate the training of new inspectors with senior health inspectors and program managers
  • Review daily inspection reports and environmental activity forms
  • Assist inspectors with difficult and troublesome cases
  • Provide technical assistance to private inspectors and contractors
  • Assist the Lead Program EHO Directors with program implementation and services delivery
  • Counsel landlords, owner-occupiers, tenants, contractors, and the general public about lead law, regulations, and safety measures
  • Facilitate Lead Determination collaboration with ISD
  • Investigate public complaints and take necessary actions for remediation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school or five years of relevant experience
  • Valid MA driver's license and a legally operable automobile
  • Familiarity with Boston neighborhoods; multilingual skills preferred
  • MA Lead Inspector License within six months of hire and maintenance of valid licensure
  • At least five years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or technical experience in Lead Inspection
  • At least three years of the five years of experience must have been in a professional capacity
  • At least one year of the five years of experience must have been in a managerial capacity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes
  • Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues
Additional Information

This position requires direct client/patient contact and certain immunizations will be recommended and/or required prior to commencement of employment duties.
