Job Responsibilities

The RN Clinical Nurse I is responsible for delivering professional nursing care through proficient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in alignment with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the guidance of the nursing leader. This role includes maintaining a safe work environment and executing all job responsibilities in a secure manner while ensuring clinical and professional competency appropriate to the patient population served.

Key Duties

  • Gather data relevant to the healthcare consumer's health or situation. Analyze assessment data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
  • Establish expected outcomes for a plan tailored to the healthcare consumer or situation.
  • Formulate a plan that outlines strategies to achieve expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Execute the identified plan, coordinate care delivery, and implement strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Delegate care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with applicable legal or policy parameters.
  • Assess progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
  • Practice in a manner that respects cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Communicate effectively across all areas of practice.
  • Collaborate with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the professional practice setting and the nursing profession.
  • Incorporate evidence and research findings into practice.
  • Contribute to the advancement of quality nursing practice.
  • Evaluate personal and others' nursing practices against professional standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to plan, deliver, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.
  • Engage in practices that promote environmental safety and health.
  • Uphold ethical standards in practice.
  • Encourage shared governance and facility decision-making activities, fostering research to positively influence clinical outcomes and advancement.

Physical Requirements
This role requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be capable of lifting and supporting the weight of 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English is necessary for effective communication. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch are required, along with finger dexterity and critical thinking abilities. Must be able to respond swiftly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing is mandatory.

Education, Experience, and Certifications
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required per policy guidelines. A current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice is mandatory, or if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as the primary state of residency, compliance with the licensure requirements in the home state is necessary; for Non-National License Compact states, a current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner is required in the state where the RN practices.
