Job Responsibilities
The RN Clinical Nurse I is responsible for delivering professional nursing care through proficient assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in line with facility or departmental policies and protocols under the guidance of nursing leadership. This role includes maintaining a secure work environment and executing all job responsibilities safely while ensuring clinical and professional competency relevant to the patient population served.
Key Duties
- Gather data relevant to the health status of the patient or the situation at hand. Analyze this data to identify actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Establish expected outcomes for a personalized care plan tailored to the patient or the situation.
- Formulate a plan that outlines strategies to achieve measurable outcomes.
- Execute the established plan, coordinate care delivery, and implement strategies to promote health and safety.
- Delegate care responsibilities to appropriate healthcare personnel in accordance with legal and policy guidelines.
- Assess progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
- Practice in a manner that respects cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Communicate effectively across all areas of practice.
- Collaborate with patients and other key stakeholders in nursing practice.
- Demonstrate leadership within the professional practice environment.
- Incorporate evidence and research findings into nursing practice.
- Contribute to the advancement of quality nursing practice.
- Evaluate personal and peer nursing practices against professional standards and guidelines.
- Utilize appropriate resources to plan, deliver, and maintain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.

- Uphold ethical standards in practice.
- Encourage shared governance and participate in decision-making activities that enhance clinical outcomes.
Physical Requirements
This position involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift and support weights of up to 35 pounds is necessary for handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English communication is required. Candidates must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch, along with finger dexterity. Critical thinking skills and the ability to concentrate are essential, as is the capacity to respond swiftly to changes in patient or unit conditions. Physical abilities testing is a requirement.
Qualifications
Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, with a BSN preferred. Current Basic Life Support certification is required per policy guidelines. A valid RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of practice is mandatory, or for those declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as their primary residency, compliance with home state licensure requirements is necessary.
