Key Responsibilities
In this entry-level security role, you will work under the guidance of a Security Officer II, ensuring the daily operations of safety and security within the healthcare setting. Your primary focus will be to maintain compliance with regulatory standards while providing a secure atmosphere for patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Core Duties
  • Conduct regular internal and external patrols on foot and by vehicle, ensuring adherence to established protocols and maintaining a secure environment. Demonstrate keen situational awareness and respond promptly to any threats.
  • Respond to service requests as directed by the Security Control Center or through self-initiation, following established procedures with urgency and professionalism.
  • Manage challenging situations involving unruly or intoxicated individuals, employing de-escalation techniques and the appropriate level of intervention to achieve a safe resolution.
  • Maintain vigilance for safety and security issues, taking proactive measures to address concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to Security Control Center Operators for documentation purposes and complete incident reports in accordance with policies.
  • Regular attendance is essential for this role.
  • Fulfill physical requirements as outlined in the Physical Requirements section.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a hospital, customer service, or general work environment is preferred.
  • Recent graduates in criminal justice, security administration, or healthcare may be considered in lieu of work experience.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, along with performing mathematical calculations necessary for investigations and reporting.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
  • Certification in the application of physical restraints is required within 60 days of employment and must be maintained annually.
  • Completion of Defensive Tactics Training is required within one year of employment.
  • IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) or International Foundation for Protection Officers Certified Protection Officer (CPO) certification is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Certification in Violent Patient Restraint application during Field Training is required and must be maintained annually.
  • Current First Aid Certification through the American Heart Association is required within 60 days of employment.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are required.
