Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Learning Engineer to become part of our AI Infrastructure team.

This team is tasked with developing DocuSign's centralized platform for crafting, managing, and deploying sophisticated AI/ML solutions, enhancing customer experiences across the DocuSign Agreement Cloud.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting the entire machine learning lifecycle, which includes the research platform, training and deployment pipelines, as well as labeling and serving infrastructure.

You will collaborate with a team of expert applied researchers specializing in various fields such as document understanding, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision to prototype and implement solutions for real-world business challenges at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Applied Science, Product teams, and engineers across various locations to develop and deliver innovative machine learning products and features.
  • Contribute to the AI infrastructure by creating highly scalable gRPC-based services that facilitate both offline and online machine learning pipelines, ensuring top-tier security and reliability.
  • Develop systems to enhance AI-assisted data labeling processes while adhering to stringent data governance and security protocols.
  • Assist in building scalable model training infrastructure to expedite the deployment of candidate models into production.
  • Optimize model performance, including open-source and licensed LLMs, utilizing best practices for CPU/GPU inference on NVIDIA Triton with TensorRT / ONNX.
  • Enhance platform observability by implementing tools and infrastructure necessary for monitoring and analyzing the performance of deployed AI services.
Job Designation

Hybrid:
Employees will split their time between remote work and in-office presence, with a minimum of two days per week required in the office.

DocuSign reserves the right to adjust job designations based on business needs and local regulations.Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in building and consuming RESTful and gRPC-based web services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD build pipelines, integrated testing, and test-driven development.
  • Experience with cloud deployment technologies such as Kubernetes or Docker.
  • Proficiency in designing and scaling full-stack or distributed backend systems.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java or Python.
  • Preferred experience in developing machine learning products, data pipelines, or machine learning training and deployment systems.
  • Familiarity with deploying and monitoring machine learning models.
  • Experience with LLMs and knowledge of NLP and Computer Vision domains.
  • Familiarity with OpenAI APIs and libraries.
