Non-Exempt/Full-Time

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with potential for overtime during evenings and weekends.

REPORTING TO:
Operations Director and/or Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Electrician will operate under the guidance of the Operations Director and/or Superintendent, taking charge of the construction, installation, and modification of electrical systems, appliances, and controls of varying complexity.

The role requires both adherence to direction and the ability to work independently, ensuring the successful achievement of the company's objectives while maintaining a professional and culturally respectful approach in line with SEL Construction's policies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Electrician will be tasked with complex electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance related to the construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and devices. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Diagnosing and troubleshooting faulty systems and components using testing equipment and hand tools.
  2. Demonstrating proficiency in identifying faults in AC/DC electrical systems and effectively resolving issues.
  3. Assessing electrical systems and components for hazards and ensuring compliance with safety codes.
  4. Testing the continuity of circuits and verifying the safety and compatibility of electrical systems.
  5. Providing management with ongoing feedback regarding potential hazards during equipment operation.
  6. Performing tasks at heights, including on ladders and scaffolding, to install or repair electrical systems.
  7. Engaging in physically demanding activities such as trench digging and conduit installation.
  8. Interpreting plans, specifications, and safety documents relevant to each project.
  9. Identifying and mitigating safety hazards and code violations effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial, industrial, or solar electrician role, with a solid understanding of electrical equipment, high and low voltages, and electrical theory.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of job site safety and the ability to evaluate hazards.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment for troubleshooting.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently while coordinating with team members.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.

TRAVEL:
This position requires frequent travel within the state of Texas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees may encounter ongoing construction activities and various weather conditions, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must:

  • Be able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Utilize repetitive hand and finger movements.
  • Handle tools and equipment effectively.

VISION REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required include:

  • Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
