POSITION:
Lead Electrician

TYPE:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 Hours/Week) with potential for overtime.

REPORTING TO:
Operations Director/Superintendent

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Lead Electrician will operate under the guidance of the Operations Director and/or Superintendent, taking charge of the assembly, installation, and modification of electrical systems, devices, and related controls of various complexities.

The individual will be expected to follow directives while also demonstrating initiative to achieve the company's objectives in a professional manner, in line with SEL Construction's policies and client expectations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Electrician role requires expertise in complex electrical troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance related to the construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and devices.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctioning systems and components using testing equipment and hand tools.

- Demonstrating proficiency in identifying faults in AC/DC electrical systems and effectively resolving issues.

- Analyzing electrical systems and components to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety codes.

- Testing the continuity of circuits to verify the safety and compatibility of electrical systems.

- Providing management with ongoing feedback regarding potential hazards in equipment operation.

- Performing tasks at heights and in various physical conditions, including the installation and maintenance of electrical wiring and fixtures.

- Engaging in physically demanding activities such as trench digging and conduit installation.

- Interpreting plans, specifications, and safety documents relevant to each project.

- Identifying and mitigating safety hazards and code violations through effective problem-solving.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial, industrial, or solar electrician role with a strong understanding of electrical equipment and theory.

- Comprehensive knowledge of job site safety and the ability to assess job hazards effectively.

- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment for diagnosing systems.

- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and coordinate with team members.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.


TRAVEL:
This position necessitates frequent travel within the state.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employees may encounter ongoing construction and varying weather conditions, with noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands of this role include:

- Regularly standing, walking, sitting, crouching, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

- Performing repetitive hand movements and handling tools and equipment.


VISION REQUIREMENTS:

Vision abilities required include near and distant vision, color identification, and depth perception.
