Key Responsibilities
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal-quality scans, utilizing immobilization techniques as needed.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment to perform procedures throughout the hospital, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Assist radiologists with recommendations for optimal studies, suggesting technical factors and equipment selections.
  • Secure pertinent patient history for each procedure, providing radiologists with essential information for interpretation.
  • Maintain positive guest relations with patients, fellow employees, and hospital personnel, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure optimal outcomes for each procedure, working closely to achieve accurate diagnoses.
  • Comply with hospital safety standards, prioritizing patient and staff well-being.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services, staying up-to-date with the latest ultrasound techniques and technologies.
  • Deliver patient care in accordance with department standards, promoting continued quality improvement.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available for procedures.
  • Operate Hospital Information Computer Systems as required, maintaining accurate patient records and schedules.
  • Recommend adjustments to daily patient schedules to optimize timely patient service.
Requirements
  • ARDMS Registry with 2-3 years of experience in ultrasound in a hospital setting.
  • Possess high technical knowledge to perform specialized U/S studies with minimal assistance from radiologists.
  • Able to make diagnostic judgments when scanning and present them to radiologists for interpretation.
  • CPR certification.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to take call on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours with minimal notice.
  • Ability to work odd hours, including late shifts and on-call rotations.
  • Ability to respond to emergency call-backs in a timely manner.
  • Exposure to radiation.
  • Ability to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to deal with extremely ill patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital personnel.
