Position Overview:

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in managing safety measures and ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards at geothermal drilling sites. This position demands strong administrative capabilities, the formulation of safety protocols, and direct supervision of safety practices on-site. A solid background in industrial safety, particularly within the drilling or renewable energy industries, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, execute, and oversee safety protocols tailored to geothermal drilling activities.
  • Conduct routine safety evaluations and inspections to verify compliance with OSHA standards and internal policies.
  • Revise and maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety plans, and incident reports.
  • Provide on-site safety management during drilling operations, conducting daily safety briefings and toolbox discussions to reinforce safety practices.
  • Create and disseminate safety training resources.
  • Stay informed about the latest safety regulations and best practices to ensure the company's compliance and training initiatives are up-to-date.
  • Lead investigations into incidents or near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Compile detailed reports on incidents and safety performance indicators.
  • Implement corrective strategies to avert the recurrence of incidents.
  • Maintain precise records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Prepare and present regular safety reports to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is systematically organized and easily accessible for audits and inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a safety coordination role, ideally in construction, drilling, or renewable energy sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, ASP, or equivalent) is advantageous.
Required Certifications (or ability to obtain certification within the first ninety (90) days of employment):
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) Certification
  • OSHA Rigging Training
Connecticut State Safety Requirements:
  • Comprehensive understanding of Connecticut OSHA (CONN-OSHA) standards and requirements.
  • Ability to develop and implement site-specific safety programs.
  • Competence in conducting hazard assessments and applying appropriate control measures.
  • Experience in delivering safety training tailored to construction job site needs.
  • Familiarity with state-specific regulations related to excavation, drilling, and heavy machinery operation.
  • Ability to collaborate with state regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Knowledge of state-specific incident reporting and recordkeeping mandates.
Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Expected Work Hours:

Employees are required to work a minimum of thirty (30) hours weekly to maintain full-time status for benefits eligibility; however, the demands of the role typically necessitate an average of forty (40) hours, with overtime as required. The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.

Travel Requirements:
  • This is an on-site role requiring presence five (5) days a week, with occasional weekends and nights based on operational needs. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to commute daily to the work site. Only residents within a specified radius will be considered for this position.

Office/Remote Work Guidelines:

Brightcore operates under a hybrid model, allowing eligible employees to work remotely for two (2) days a week at their discretion, subject to final approval by their direct supervisor. This policy may be adjusted at Brightcore's discretion.
