Director of Manufacturing Systems & Continuous Improvement

The Director of Manufacturing Systems will play a key role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across two plants in Michigan. This individual will be responsible for establishing best practices and implementing a World Class Manufacturing system, with a focus on waste identification and elimination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and implement operating system improvements, driving demonstrated results quarter to quarter.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, delivering manufacturing improvements and driving process excellence.
  • Develop project plans for CI projects, including resources, timelines, and critical paths.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and plan project scope, from initiation to implementation and operational transition.
  • Develop and document new business processes or optimize existing ones as required.
  • Focus on process improvement for Operations, with a strong analytical mindset to identify opportunities and quantify costs and benefits.
  • Utilize Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement tools to drive results.
  • Provide training and mentorship to employees on Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify business process deficiencies and recommend adjustments.
  • Link process deficiencies to bottom-line impact and drive resolution using statistical and financial justification.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety regulations and enforce safety rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) is required.
  • Recent experience in a Manufacturing facility is essential, with a preference for Automotive Industry experience.
  • Solid understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean tools, with a proven track record of implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
  • Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
  • Hands-on experience using Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma, TQM).
