Job Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a highly skilled and experienced Security Systems Manager to lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the university's security and safety program. This position will oversee the administration of the campus-wide enterprise security camera system, ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security protocols and procedures, with experience in managing and coordinating security systems, including security camera management systems, access control and intrusion systems. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and foster a high-functioning customer-centered team.

The Security Systems Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating the university's security camera system
  • Developing strategic procedures and security strategies
  • Recommending optimal camera locations
  • Collaborating with departments to maintain an efficient and secure surveillance environment
  • Overseeing the purchasing, installation, and maintenance processes
  • Managing vendors
  • Implementing security measures
  • Providing emergency response support
  • Maintaining thorough documentation for a secure infrastructure

The Security Systems Manager will also be responsible for effective communication with university leadership and engagement with stakeholders for budget planning, policy enforcement, and adherence to legal and privacy standards.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and 1-2 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience, in a related field. They will also possess knowledge of security measures involved in working with sensitive and critical data, and the ability to analyze moderately complex situations and recommend responses, solutions, and options based on interpretation of local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
