Position Overview:
The Compassionate Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the nursing department while adhering to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the lifting, positioning, and transportation of residents, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Support residents in their mobility, whether they require assistance or use self-help devices.
  • Implement restorative and rehabilitative techniques as directed.
  • Ensure that call lights are accessible to residents and respond promptly to their needs.
  • Monitor residents who may be unable to call for assistance, checking on them regularly.
  • Attend to residents' personal care preferences and needs.
  • Report any changes in residents' health status to the supervising nurse without delay.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in resident living areas and common spaces.
  • Identify and communicate any unusual skin conditions to the nursing staff.
  • Provide assistance with Range of Motion exercises and the application of adaptive devices.
  • Facilitate meal service by ensuring residents are properly positioned and have access to food and hydration.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure the well-being of residents in specialized care.
  • Engage in effective communication with residents and their families, fostering strong relationships.
  • Deliver care in accordance with dementia care protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities.
  • Document care and services accurately in the designated system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Nurse Aide Training: Required.
  • Experience: No prior experience necessary.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in operating computers and basic office equipment.
  • Certifications: Must hold an active certificate from the Ohio Department of Health's Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) and comply with continuing education requirements.

Additional Requirements:
Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Must be capable of working collaboratively with elderly residents, their families, and healthcare team members. Adherence to the United Church Homes Employee Handbook is essential.
