Job Summary

South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Operations Specialist to oversee payroll transactions and ensure smooth team operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee payroll tasks, including establishing goals, processes, and providing general direction and support daily.
  • Oversee accurate and timely processing of payroll activities, including payroll and tax-related documents.
  • Prepare notices, bulletins, and communication regarding payroll-related announcements, corrections, adjustments, and changes in policies or procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records, including timecards, attendance records, and employee changes.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related concerns, issues, and discrepancies.
  • Assist in administration of employee benefits, retirement plans, and voluntary deductions.
  • Analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and update general ledgers and payroll files as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, external vendors, and employees to ensure accurate and seamless processes.
  • Ensure the payroll system is up-to-date and efficient.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to payroll, ensuring compliance.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, providing insights into payroll costs and trends.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports and filings to government agencies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the payroll function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting and general ledger functions is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience using payroll software, such as Paylocity.
  • Strong understanding of local and governmental payroll regulations.
  • Excellent computational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software.

Salary and Benefits

$32.96 - $37.61 per hour, commensurate with experience.
