Position Summary:
The Director of Community Engagement is tasked with crafting and executing a comprehensive Community Affairs strategy that aligns with our Public Affairs framework, aimed at enhancing growth and profitability. This role emphasizes collaboration with resort management to implement business strategies, leveraging external insights and organizational data to address local and regional priorities effectively.
This position is integral to the Public Affairs Department and reports directly to the VP of Community and Government Affairs, focusing on community-level public affairs in the Rocky Mountain Region. The Director will engage with resort leadership to facilitate outreach efforts, establishing connections with key government and community stakeholders to advance business and operational objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in strategic planning and external affairs, demonstrating the ability to influence diverse stakeholders while embodying our Company values and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Public Affairs strategies that align with business priorities within resort communities.
- Build and maintain relationships with local communities in accordance with our Community & Government Affairs strategy.
- Analyze external trends and community engagement efforts to align with business objectives.
- Stay informed on key stakeholder and policy developments, providing strategic recommendations on potential impacts to the Company.
- Represent Vail Resorts in external engagements.
- Collaborate across various departments within Vail Resorts.
- Work closely with the Public Affairs team, including Public Relations, Environmental & Social Responsibility, and Government Affairs.
- Support resort leadership in their external engagement and business initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between Public Affairs and business units, facilitating communication on priorities and emerging issues.
- Oversee the Community Analyst role and manage the operating budget for the Community & Government Affairs team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 6-12 years of relevant experience, preferably in government affairs, regulatory entities, or business roles related to Marketing, Communications, or Strategy.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and simplify complex challenges.
- Experience in developing integrated strategies and managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with senior executives.
- Passion for community service and driving value in a safe and inclusive environment.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to efficiency.
