Job Summary

This position is located in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals' Public Office Operations Division of the Clerk's Office.

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Division's administrative procedures and daily functions, including oversight of daily docketing, transmission of records, and transcript management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall daily supervision of the Information Center, Files and Records Management Unit, the Courtroom support staff, Media Coordinator, and Mail Service.
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are in good repair and operational for duty.
  • Supervise and coordinate the organization and preparation of case files to ensure adherence to record-retention-storage-guidelines.
  • Plan work assignments and advise staff of any short-term priority changes.
  • Answer questions raised by division personnel and assist the Public Office Director to resolve issues on work-related problems.
  • Meet with the Director for Public Office Operations to discuss special mission requirements and make recommendations regarding policy, procedures, and work problems.
  • Provide information to the Bar and the public relating to appellate files and general information on procedural matters.
  • Coordinate Courtroom Clerk assignments and supervise the administration of all courtroom proceedings.
