Position: Residential Supervisor

Shift Hours:

Two available positions:

10:00 PM - 8:30 AM

8:30 PM - 7:00 AM


Employment Status: Full Time

Reports To: Program Manager


Objective:

Under the guidance of the Program Manager, this role is responsible for delivering essential care services to homeless and at-risk youth.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate daily group life-skills training sessions.
  2. Perform hourly room inspections to ensure residents adhere to daily schedules.
  3. Oversee on-site activities.
  4. Supervise residents engaged in community service projects.
  5. Manage Community Alternative Sentencing workers and/or volunteers as necessary.
  6. Conduct intake and assessment processes as needed.
  7. Distribute bus passes to residents when required.
  8. Execute resident discharge procedures, including packing belongings and cleaning dormitory rooms.
  9. Engage in staff development initiatives.
  10. Handle phone communications and manage messages in the administrative area.
  11. Enforce all organizational rules and standards.
  12. Provide direct oversight of all residents during assigned shifts and maintain an hourly log.
  13. Report any program violations prior to the end of the shift.
  14. Offer crisis intervention as necessary.
  15. Supervise residents' intake of prescribed and over-the-counter medications, ensuring compliance.
  16. Complete all required documentation, including incident reports and resident tracking logs, before the end of the shift.
  17. Transport residents to appointments when necessary.
  18. Assist residents with daily chores.
  19. Support residents during meal times to ensure fair food distribution.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Familiarity with local social service agencies and programs related to homeless and at-risk youth.
  2. Understanding of relevant statutes, ordinances, and codes.
  3. Experience and insight into issues faced by homeless and at-risk youth.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  5. Strong written, verbal, and listening skills, with the ability to initiate and respond to correspondence independently.
  6. Capability to maintain order and exercise sound judgment in crisis situations.
  7. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with residents, colleagues, other agencies, and the public.
  9. Effective time management and organizational skills.
  10. Comprehension of and adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
  11. Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  12. Willingness to work flexible hours as dictated by resident needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of 2 years' experience working with homeless or at-risk youth or equivalent experience.
  3. Must possess a Health Card, 2-Step TB Test, current CPR/First Aid certification, and complete a pre-employment physical.
  4. Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening is required, with random drug testing conducted thereafter.
  5. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory, with Driver History Reports submitted quarterly.

Work Environment:

This position involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with occasional driving required. The role may include various physical activities such as sitting, lifting, bending, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, simple grasping, and climbing.
