Position: Residential Monitor

Shift Hours:

Two available shifts:

  • 10:00 PM - 8:30 AM
  • 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM

Employment Status: Full Time

Reporting To: Program Manager


Objective:

This role involves providing essential care and support to homeless and at-risk youth under the guidance of the Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate daily group life-skills training sessions.
  2. Perform hourly room inspections to ensure compliance with daily schedules.
  3. Observe and oversee activities on the premises.
  4. Guide residents during community service tasks on-site.
  5. Supervise community service workers and volunteers as necessary.
  6. Conduct intake assessments as needed.
  7. Distribute bus passes to residents when required.
  8. Assist with resident discharge processes, including packing and cleaning dormitory areas.
  9. Engage in professional development activities.
  10. Manage communication within the administrative area, including responding to emails and voicemails.
  11. Uphold all organizational rules and standards.
  12. Provide direct oversight of residents during assigned shifts and maintain an hourly log.
  13. Report any program violations prior to shift completion.
  14. Offer crisis intervention as necessary.
  15. Supervise residents' medication intake and document compliance.
  16. Complete all required documentation, including incident and runaway reports, before the end of the shift.
  17. Provide transportation for residents to appointments when needed.
  18. Assist residents with daily chores.
  19. Support residents during meal times to ensure fair food distribution.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Familiarity with local social service resources for homeless and at-risk youth.
  2. Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and codes.
  3. Experience addressing issues faced by homeless and at-risk youth.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  5. Strong written, verbal, and listening skills, with the ability to manage correspondence independently.
  6. Capability to maintain order and exercise sound judgment in crisis situations.
  7. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  8. Ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships with residents, colleagues, and external agencies.
  9. Organizational skills to manage work schedules and time effectively.
  10. Understanding and adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
  11. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  12. Willingness to work flexible hours based on resident needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with homeless or at-risk youth, or equivalent experience.
  3. Required certifications: Health Card, 2-Step TB Test, current CPR/First Aid, and pre-employment physical.
  4. Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening, with random screenings conducted thereafter.
  5. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Work Environment:

The position involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with occasional driving required. The role may involve physical activities such as sitting, lifting, bending, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
