Job Overview

Position Summary: The Packaging Operations Supervisor at Bud's Goods + Provisions is tasked with overseeing the packaging and labeling processes within our facility. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient packaging of cannabis and related products for our clientele. The supervisor will lead a team of technicians skilled in both automated and manual packaging techniques, ensuring high throughput and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all packaging operations, including pouching, jarring, pre-roll packaging, and case packing, while ensuring accurate label printing and application.
  • Organize and manage work orders for the packaging department, coordinating staff schedules and required materials.
  • Set production schedules aimed at achieving departmental goals, including minimizing waste and enhancing quality control.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding packaging practices.
  • Foster employee performance through clear communication of expectations and constructive feedback.
  • Evaluate team performance and implement necessary improvements.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of all packaging equipment.
  • Promote a safe working environment through comprehensive safety training and the provision of necessary personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with production leadership and human resources in the event of workplace incidents.
  • Forecast and assess requirements for packaging schedules and work orders.
  • Analyze trends and variances in cannabis inventory and develop corrective action plans to address discrepancies.
  • Encourage the development of high-performing teams through hands-on coaching and effective communication.
  • Continuously review and enhance established processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide strategic direction to the packaging team while supporting production leadership.
  • Monitor and maintain key performance indicators for the packaging department, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in the recruitment and training of packaging staff.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively, setting clear expectations for daily and weekly tasks.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on the safe operation of packaging equipment.
  • Ensure all packaging activities comply with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Act as a champion for the company's values within the packaging operations.
  • Utilize software systems for manufacturing execution to streamline operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
  • At least 4 years of experience in production or manufacturing, preferably within the cannabis sector.
  • Strong understanding of cannabis regulations and a commitment to ongoing industry education.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems.
  • Proven ability to manage operations in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of cannabis products is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of inventory tracking systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Frequent use of hands, including repetitive motions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Compliance with all legal and company regulations in the cannabis industry.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Approval from the relevant regulatory commission to work in the cannabis sector.
