Mental Health Support Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to provide direct support and care to individuals with mental health challenges in a residential or community-based setting. As a Mental Health Worker, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the well-being and independence of individuals while ensuring their safety and comfort.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive and supportive relationships with individuals receiving care.
- Assist individuals in developing and implementing individualized care plans to address their specific needs and goals.
- Provide guidance and support to individuals in their everyday activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
- Foster a safe and therapeutic environment, promoting a sense of community and inclusion.
- Monitor and document the behavior and progress of individuals, reporting any significant observations or concerns to supervisors or appropriate team members.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive care approach.
- Motivate and encourage individuals to engage in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote their emotional and cognitive well-being.
- Implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality and privacy of individuals' information.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in a relevant field is a plus.
- Previous experience working with individuals with mental health challenges is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and trust with individuals.
- Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals receiving care.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention techniques is advantageous.
- Understanding of confidentiality and privacy regulations in the mental health field.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in a residential or community-based setting, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The work environment may involve a variety of physical activities, including standing, walking, and assisting individuals with mobility or personal care tasks.
