Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our team at Mission Community Hospital. As a Mental Health Worker, you will play a vital role in providing patient care and support in our mental healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed nurses in providing patient care, including vital sign monitoring, behavioral and physical symptomatology, and basic nursing functions.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including administrators, managers, and charge nurses, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Respond quickly to changes in patient status and report findings to nursing personnel.
  • Participate in providing cost-effective, quality, efficient patient care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in de-escalation, seclusion, or restraint episodes, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output accurately, and report findings to nursing personnel.
  • Complete admission tasks, including cataloging patient belongings and assisting with new patient orientation.
  • Recognize and assist patients with ADL needs, including bathing, ambulation, grooming, and monitoring dietary intake.
  • Assist in identifying patients at risk for falls and follow fall precaution policies.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform routine patient-care activities and physical strengths to assist patients.
  • Good communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Able to perform simple arithmetic calculations and understand medical terminology.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification and FIRE Card obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Initial MABPRO MAB or current MABPRO certification by completion of unit orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a Mental Health Worker, Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic.
  • Minimum of six months adult Behavioral Health experience, Acute Care, Long Term, or sub-acute direct patient care experience within the last two years.
