POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Vice President of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Evernorth and its subsidiaries, with primary accountability for all Finance, Tax, Audit, and Capital Management functions.

This role involves hiring and managing finance and capital management personnel, as well as administering the Evernorth real estate-owned loan portfolio, Treasury, and investor reporting. The position requires maintaining investor relationships and supervising the formation and management of Evernorth's multi-investor and proprietary funds. A key aspect of this role is fostering positive and collaborative partnerships with senior management and the Board of Directors.

As an active and collaborative member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, the Senior Vice President will contribute to shaping and guiding the organization's goals, strategies, and performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executive and Senior Leadership Engagement:
  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s vision, strategy, and objectives, alongside business and human resources policies.
  • Serve on the Oversight Committee, providing guidance on capital raising, deployment, risk management, and conflict resolution.
  • Support the Board Finance Committee by delivering quarterly financial reports for board review.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with the Board of Directors and Evernorth's corporate financial institutions and major investors.

Corporate Financial Oversight:
  • Direct and manage accounting, auditing, taxation, budgeting, organizational cash flow, long-term forecasting, treasury, banking, and insurance activities.
  • Ensure the integrity of internal accounting controls and organizational security.
  • Oversee the corporate investment portfolio and coordinate the establishment of annual operating budgets.
  • Supervise departmental reports and financial data.
  • Manage accounting and lending for the real estate development department.
  • Oversee annual audits and tax preparations for Evernorth-related entities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal nonprofit regulations, SEC filings, and state business filings.
  • Supervise loan servicing and financial transactions for New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) projects.
  • Establish processes to ensure compliance with all grant and funding agreements.
  • Lead lending activities within Evernorth-related organizations, setting loan terms and approving loans.

Capital Management Leadership:
  • Oversee the operations of the Capital Management Department.
  • Participate in the formation and management of Evernorth's multi-investor and proprietary funds, including reviewing legal documents and capital structures.
  • Ensure accurate reporting to investors and maintain the integrity of upper-tier models.
  • Monitor target returns and oversee the dissolution of multi-investor and proprietary funds.
  • Manage annual audits and tax preparations for funds and lower-tier partnerships.
  • Oversee the establishment and investment of upper-tier reserve funds.

Evernorth Loan Fund Management:
  • Engage in the Staff Credit Committee.
  • Monitor loan portfolios for Evernorth organizations, assessing risk and establishing appropriate reserves for loan losses.
  • Oversee loan servicing and associated reporting.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance aspects of Treasury programs, including CDFI and Capital Magnet Fund initiatives.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to the President.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the Controller, Director of Finance, Director of Capital Management, Director of Capital Strategies, and Corporate Secretary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in executive leadership roles.
  • Strong leadership, management, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Proven expertise in risk management.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning.
  • High-level knowledge of tax-advantaged financing, structuring, and compliance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and adapt to change while working effectively across the organization.

Preferred Skills:
  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in business or finance.
  • Experience in syndication, real estate development, or affordable housing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Office 365, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Well-organized and adaptable.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities with sensitive timelines.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
