Position Overview:

The Residential Advisor (RA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and personal growth of residents. This position involves direct interaction with residents, guiding them in developing essential daily living skills while overseeing the daily operations of the home in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly scheduling and coordinate staffing to address any vacancies.
  • Supervise and support direct care staff, ensuring completion of daily responsibilities.
  • Oversee staff training, shift scheduling, and performance evaluations, ensuring effective onboarding processes.
  • Engage in the development and review of the Person-Centered Plan (PCP), participating in the PCP process and conducting activities that align with habilitative service objectives.
  • Assist residents in gaining independence and enhancing their social living skills.
  • Support residents with essential life skills, including personal hygiene and grooming, while collaborating with staff to meet individual needs.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, ensuring the dietary needs of residents are met while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, time sheets, incident reports, and training documentation.
  • Document resident progress towards person-centered goals in the designated management system.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the residence, promoting resident involvement in household tasks.
  • Provide transportation for residents to scheduled activities and appointments.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or 60 credit hours in human services or related fields, or 15 credit hours in human services with one year of relevant experience. A High School Diploma or GED combined with three years of experience may be accepted.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer skills.
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid, and other required training as mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening and background check is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and manipulate at least 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of over 100 pounds.
  • Capability to endure prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
  • Ability to assist individuals with mobility, including transferring from chairs to vehicles and securing individuals in wheelchairs.
