As a Meter Electrician Technician 1A at Southern California Edison, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our electrical meters. Your expertise will be essential in repairing, testing, and calibrating single phase and polyphase meters, as well as inspecting internal and external connections. Your work will contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of electricity to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and validate mechanical, electrical, electronic, and communication components of meters.
  • Clean, recondition, repair, or replace defective parts.
  • Verify register ratios and meter constants.
  • Use test instruments to perform testing and evaluation of associated metering equipment and load survey devices.
  • Test insulation of meters and associated metering equipment.
  • Perform meter tests and compute meter error.
  • Adjust meters to bring accuracy within prescribed limits.
  • Check, verify, and update meter nameplate data and meter programs.
  • Record test results in SCE systems.

Requirements

  • Experience in fixing mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
  • Current valid Driver's License.
  • Electronics or Electrical engineering degree or certification and/or education in Electrical Theory.
  • Experience as a commercial/residential electrician or electrical construction.
  • Working with power tools and hand tools.
  • Bending and lifting of assets up to 50 lbs.
  • Mathematical computations and algebra calculations.
  • Tabulating test results and performing computations for statistical analysis.
  • Testing and repairing Single Phase and Polyphase Meters.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
