SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the teacher or Instructional Leader, the CTE Instructional Support Specialist collaborates directly with enrolled students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) to facilitate daily educational activities.

This role involves assisting in the preparation of instructional resources and executing lesson plans. The specialist monitors student engagement during lessons and provides additional individual or small group instruction as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Deliver support services required to implement the instructional strategy as directed by the CTE teacher or Instructional Leader.

2. Observe students during lessons to ensure adherence to the teacher's progression; review and assess homework and classwork. 3. Conduct research for curriculum development, implement, and prepare lessons under the teacher's supervision. 4. Aid teachers in maintaining classroom discipline; redirect students who are not focused during lessons; respond to individual inquiries. 5. Assist students with assignments and study sessions; offer additional explanations or tutoring for individuals and small groups.

6. Help educators prepare materials for lessons; ensure that all necessary supplies and equipment are available and utilized correctly by students.

7. Participate in the administration of assessments.

8. Maintain individual student records and folders; administer, score, and document test results; gather data on student performance and prepare correspondence reporting student progress or concerns.

9. Complete and submit required classroom documentation on a daily and weekly basis. 10. Attend meetings as required.

11. Foster a positive relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the community by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and staff; maintain confidentiality regarding work-related matters, client records, and school information; adhere to Governing Board Policies; perform all other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND some previous classroom experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

License and Certification Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint clearance card within 90 days of employment.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in a second language preferred for ESL assignments.
- Ability to develop and implement clear lesson plans.
- Basic knowledge of the subject matter being taught in the program.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive learning and working environment for students and staff.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Skills in planning, prioritizing, and completing tasks.
- Ability to write professional reports and correspondence from brief instructions.
- Skills in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to research and compile data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service, including tactful and courteous interactions with the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Initiative within organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
