DEFINITION:
The Mathematics Instructional Coach collaborates with the Mathematics Content Specialist to lead and engage in the assessment, selection, development, and integration of a comprehensive coaching model across the District. This role utilizes technology, professional development, curriculum resources, and both group and individual coaching sessions to enhance student and staff learning outcomes. The coach will work with district-wide personnel to foster and oversee the application of state-standard aligned, district-approved curriculum, along with strategies for ongoing improvement. Additionally, the Mathematics Instructional Coach will collaborate with district staff to implement and support effective teaching practices and programmatic requirements as outlined by educational authorities. Responsibilities may be renewed annually based on funding availability.

MAJOR DUTIES:
  1. Evaluates course, campus, and district-level mathematics data to provide insights to educators and inform instructional practices.
  2. Identifies the skills and needs of teachers and students to determine necessary professional development and strategies for enhancing student achievement in mathematics.
  3. Facilitates ongoing professional development through collaborative meetings, workshops, and training sessions to share and gather information related to mathematics pedagogy and coaching.
  4. Researches and disseminates effective and innovative mathematics practices through various methods, including:
    1. individual discussions;
    2. coaching sessions;
    3. demonstration lessons with pre- and post-analysis;
    4. collaborative teams or Professional Learning Communities;
    5. staff meetings; and
    6. professional development programs.
  5. Maintains comprehensive records and files (e.g., state data, student performance records) to assess the impact of math coaching on student success.
POSITION TITLE: MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
  1. Mentors and supports high school educators and campus coaches to enhance their instructional capabilities in mathematics.
  2. Develops lesson plans in partnership with teachers to ensure differentiated instruction aligns with curriculum standards.
  3. Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all relevant paperwork.
  4. Participates in monthly meetings with fellow Mathematics Coaches and the Math Content Specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Academic Intervention or a related field is preferred.
  2. Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate.
  3. A minimum of five (5) years of mathematics teaching experience in a middle or secondary educational setting.
  4. At least two (2) years of experience working with adult learners in collaborative settings, providing modeling, observation, and feedback to enhance instructional practices.
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with district and campus administration, Teachers on Assignment, support staff, and educational authorities.
  6. Proficient in using audio, video, digital tools, and related software or internet-based programs.
  7. Excellent command of the English language with the ability to produce written communications with correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  8. Familiarity with district policies and procedures is preferred.
